Dambulla is an important Cultural Triangle destination in central Sri Lanka, best known for the Dambulla Cave Temple complex. The area’s rock temples, Buddhist art and central location make it a convenient base for visiting Sigiriya, Minneriya, Polonnaruwa and other major cultural and wildlife attractions. Sigiriya and Pidurangala are nearby, while Habarana provides easy access to safari areas such as Minneriya and Kaudulla. Because Dambulla sits at an important road junction, it is a practical base for combining cave temples, ancient cities, wildlife parks and rural villages within the Cultural Triangle.
