Kitulgala

Kitulgala is Sri Lanka’s best-known white-water rafting destination, set beside the Kelani River and surrounded by rainforest. In addition to rafting, visitors can enjoy canyoning, trekking, birdwatching and river-based adventure activities, making it a popular stop for active travellers. The Kelani River is the centre of the area’s rafting and water-based activities, while Makandawa Forest Reserve and Belilena Cave add rainforest walks and archaeology. Kitulgala’s position on the route between Colombo and the central highlands also makes it an easy adventure stop on the way to Hatton or Nuwara Eliya.
