Kandy District is a scenic highland region in Sri Lanka’s Central Province, centred on the historic city of Kandy. Beyond the city, travellers can explore temples, botanical gardens, tea-growing areas, mountain viewpoints, villages and the countryside around the Victoria Reservoir. Kandy city, Peradeniya and Digana are important visitor areas, with Victoria Reservoir and the Knuckles Range adding outdoor experiences to the district. Temples, botanical gardens, tea-covered hills and mountain roads make the area suitable for both cultural sightseeing and longer excursions into Sri Lanka’s central highlands.
