Ella is a small hill-country town surrounded by tea estates, waterfalls and dramatic mountain scenery. Popular experiences include hiking to viewpoints, visiting Nine Arch Bridge and taking the scenic train through the highlands, making Ella one of Sri Lanka’s favourite destinations for nature and adventure travellers. Nine Arch Bridge, Little Adam’s Peak, Ella Rock and Ravana Falls are among the best-known sights close to town. Haputale, Bandarawela and tea estates throughout the surrounding highlands are also easy additions, while the famous railway links Ella with Kandy, Nanu Oya and other hill-country stops.
