Sri Lanka’s Central Province is the heart of the island’s hill country and includes Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Matale. The region is known for tea estates, misty mountains, cultural landmarks, botanical gardens and scenic train journeys, making it central to many Sri Lanka touring routes. Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Matale are the province’s main travel centres, with Dambulla and Sigiriya in the northern part of the region.
