Sri Lanka’s North Western Province includes coastal areas, historic sites and broad agricultural landscapes. Puttalam and Kurunegala districts provide access to lagoons, wildlife, ancient sites and travel routes linking Colombo with the Cultural Triangle and northern Sri Lanka. Kurunegala provides the inland cultural centre, while the Puttalam and Kalpitiya areas offer lagoons, beaches and marine activities. Yapahuwa, Wilpattu’s western approaches, Chilaw and coastal wetlands can also be incorporated, giving the province a mix of heritage, wildlife and less-crowded coastal scenery.
