Bundala National Park is a protected wetland area in southern Sri Lanka, famous for birdlife, lagoons and coastal landscapes. It is especially rewarding for birdwatchers, with large numbers of resident and migratory species, while elephants, crocodiles and other wildlife can also be seen on safari drives. Tissamaharama, Kirinda and Hambantota are useful nearby bases, and Yala National Park can also be combined with a visit to Bundala. This makes the area ideal for travellers who want to experience wetlands, birdlife and safari landscapes without relying on only one national park.
