Sri Lanka’s Uva Province is a mountainous region of tea estates, waterfalls, forests and dramatic viewpoints. Ella and Haputale are its best-known travel destinations, while the wider province offers hiking, scenic rail journeys and routes toward the island’s southeastern wildlife areas. Ella, Haputale and Badulla are the province’s best-known hill-country destinations, while Monaragala District extends south and east into drier landscapes. Tea estates, waterfalls, viewpoints, Buduruwagala and routes towards Kataragama and Yala make Uva a useful bridge between the highlands and the southeast.
